September 5-7

So ask me how much fun it was to have Shay and Gage here this weekend.

So.much.fun.

I have to admit, I feel a smidge disconnected to Gage, as I was 9 when he was born. So for him, during my 'crazy teen years' he was finger painting. And during his 'crazy teen years' I was bearing children. He was twelve (thanks Shay) at my wedding. You win a few, lose a few.

Shay and I are only four years apart. Only four years. That's a long time. Two missions. A high school career. Bachelors Degree. As old as my oldest son. Yes, a lot can happen in that time gap. So needless to say, when I was into make-up and ear piercing, she was not. Wait, er, Shay, have you ever really gotten into make-up? Sorry. Bad analogy. Anywho. It's sometimes hard to relate (no pun intended) to each other.

Until we get together.

Begin Friday night.

We had a blast. Something magical happens when we get together. My body suddenly doesn't need sleep. I smile so much that my mouth needs a few days to recover. I eat more than a human should. Heck, we even went to the playground for crying out loud.

*Yes, that is my husband SIX FEET OFF THE GROUND. He's so hot.*

Time seems to stand still. And then, it's over. The anticipation that has grown for weeks is suddenly over. And here I sit with my house so quiet, with the empty cracker-jack boxes that stand as a subtle reminder of the fabulous weekend.

Yeah, the pictures are working now! The swing ones reminded me that when I was in elementary school, I would do back flips off the swing. Just a little crazy!
