I really hate needles.

I mean.

I've never met anyone that likes being poked.

But surely, there are people out there
that can tolerate it.

Not me.

I hate it.

And it's embarrassing.

I once had three [HUGE] nurses around me

when I had to give a little blood

when I was pregnant.

They thought I was going to fall out of my chair . . .

. . .and I sorta did too.

I'm pretty sure I was traumatized when I was a kid.

In fact.

I remember it well.

I was five.
And I was getting shots for Kindergarten.

I was laying on the bed

and my mom was leaning over me

{read: holding me down}.

The nurse said,

"Okay Jordan."

"On the count of three, I want you to tell your mom you love her."

"Ready?"

"One."

"Two."

"Three."

The next thing that happened has been a running joke in my family for years.

I gritted my teeth.

Held my breath.

And said,
"G--I--Gah--Looooove-Gah--Youuuuuu--G----Mom!!!"

And here I am.

Twenty three years later.

And I still remember.

It.was.awful.

And now.

I get to do it with my son.

Although, I'm not sure he's just going to lay there like I did.

I'm sure there will be

crying

delaying

and

many bribes

involved.

And that's even before the shot(s).

It's the hardest part of being a mother . . .
but I'm sure grateful for them.

And on a totally different note:

I did vote.

For him:

Partly because I like his voice.
Partly because of his sad story.
But mostly because he looks like this guy:

And not the drug addicted version.
But more the guy from "Chances Are".
