Today I went to the dentist.
Zero cavities
thank you very much.
I do, however,
have a cracked tooth
that needs a bit of attention.
Weird, I know.
Anyway.
As I was sitting in the chair
As I was sitting in the chair
the very familiar
Wilson Phillips
Wilson Phillips
tune
"Hold On"
began to play.
Don't know the song? Click here.
I was instantly taken back to 5th grade.

Talent Show.
I had practiced with my
"group"
for weeks.
We were to perform
We were to perform
{read dance and sing}
to this, like, totally awesome song.
And then
three days before the show
Marlene, Shannon and Diane
Kicked.Me.Out.
I still harbor bitter feelings.
I still harbor bitter feelings.
Yep.
I was crushed.
Luckily
for me, not them
my parents are wicked creative
and would do anything to see me succeed.
And that I did.
It was a talent of the comedic element
not serious as I once thought.
Me.
"Playing" the guitar.
And, of course, my guitar teacher
ahem, fake, ahem
always wanted me to "record"
{read press play on my radio}
my performances.
Begin: MalagueƱa
I played . . .
I played . . .
. . .er . . .sorta.
And ate a sandwich.
And pulled scarves out of my guitar.
And ate a sandwich.
And pulled scarves out of my guitar.
And stretched a bit.
It.was.awesome.
And you better believe
I got first picks of tether ball on the playground
for the next two weeks.
And first place in the talent show . . .
That's how awesome my parents are.

All that while getting my teeth polished.
Seriously.
Welcome to my mind.

Oh man that's an awesome story!!
ps I love that song..."hold on for one more day"
Great story, Jordan! You answered my burning question throughout...about if you actually took the picture when you were there or not. What fabulous parents you have! How is your dad doing, by the way? How is your mom doing with him gone?
Priceless memory. You might need to show us your act some time.:) My fifth grade talent show included my friends and I lip singing and dancing to "Blame it on the Rain." I'm sure you remember that one too. We were nice though and didn't kick anyone out of our group.:)
What a great story! I think I might even remember those girls (if it's who I'm thinking of, I'm not surprised...)
"Don't cha know? Things will change? Things will go your way? If you just hoooold on for one more day, things will go your way?...." Appropriate sentiments for your kick *@! talent show. LOVED this post.
