Something happened today
that has never happened before.
So I thought I should write about it.
Lucky you.

Let me tell you a little story.
It's about a girl going off to school in a far away land.
A land full of snow drifts and icy streets.
A fancy new walk was perfected by the livers of this magical land.
"The Rexburg shuffle".
(click on that if you're not sure where Rexburg is)

Now, I once mocked the shuffle.
Oh yes I did.
But all it took was one time of laying on my back with all my peers hovering over me . . .
I became the shuffle's biggest fan.
Just ask my good friend, Jayna, about walking on icy streets.
She'll tell you.
Her humble moment happened behind a car.
That was driving.
And thought he hit her.

A memory for the long haul, that one is.
Ah, yes.
Any resident of that icy haven knows of what I speak.

Knowing how it traumatized my life,
I should've taught my offspring.
Shame on me.

I'm sure Gavin's bum is thanking me right now.
Sarcastically, of course.
He thought he'd win the race . . .
. . .between him and the car . . .
. . .from the mailbox.
I watched from the drivers side window.
Helpless.
And there he sat with bits of scattered mail all around him.
Did I laugh?
Of course.
I thought it would be a great "it's okay to laugh at yourself" moment.
He may not have seen the humor.
But he will.

And.

Look ma . . .
I got me a PONY!

Look at you with your long, long hair! Ha!

No really, I know what an accomplishment a tiny pony can be. Yea!

I love it! I always try to laugh when Monica totally biffs it so she can learn to laugh at herself. Although sometimes it bites me in the bum when I stub a toe or totally bang into the corner of something short and she turns around and laughs and says,"You're ok Mom!"

Thanks for reminding me! Oh the good times in icy Rexburg! How did we survive it? Seriously.
