So.
This has become my favorite night time snack:
But only if it's popped in this:
Thanks, Dad and Mom.
You don't know how my life changed the day you gave it to me.
My dad is a pro at making the "perfect" bowl of popcorn.
I'm so not kidding.
Butter. Salt. Mix. Repeat.
It took me many years of practice, but I now feel like I'm following in his footsteps.
Thanks, Dad.
Funny story.
I had awesome friends when I was a tween.
Weekends often consisted of giggle filled sleepovers.
Which, of course, wouldn't be complete without popcorn.
Let me take you back . . .
New Mexico.
1993.
Heidi was there too.
And Nadia, I think.
(Nad, were you there?)
Anyway. Lori's parents were out on the town and we're were home alone.
**Gasp**
But really, we were 13 and 15. People often trusted us with their children.
We were responsible.
And we wanted popcorn.
And being the "follow all directions carefully" girls that we are . . .
We read the directions.
"Add 1 cup popcorn"
Surely they didn't mean 1 measuring cup.
We were hungry.
So we added 1 cup.
A drinking cup.
This is how the conversation went:
Heidi: Um, you guys. This [huge] bowl is getting very full.
Lori: What do we do?
Heidi: Quick! Get me another bowl!
Lori: Where?
*The kitchen was then torn apart to find afore mentioned bowl*
Lori: Here (handing giant bowl to Heidi).
*30 seconds pass*
Heidi: Ummm, we need another bowl!
The next 3 minutes with filled with frantic searching for bigger and bigger bowls.
I think we even used a bucket . . .
And we ate popcorn for breakfast.

Thanks for the fun memory! Those sleep overs were the best. And I love popcorn from an air popper - I crave that snack every night.

We don't have a popcorn popper and I really want one. Dang, now I'm hungry. Again. Not saying much :)

I saw your kids in the Family Fun magazine today! Their fourth of July picture. We were sitting in the doctors office and I was thumbing through the magazine and I stopped and thought, "Hey, I know those kids!" I was freaking out! I'm sure the people next to me were wondering what the heck was wrong with me. I love that Reese is bawling behind that little binky.

That totally made my day! Thanks for a walk down memory lane...

Yes -- we did trust you with our children -- perhaps the popcorn experience was why they requested You!

Ohhh I love airpopped popcorn too, and WHEN I come to Denver (where you actually have fall leaves) you are first on my list to photograph!. . . well, AFTER we play in the leaves.

You know, I think I was there, or maybe I just remember you telling me about it. Popcorn has always been a favorite food of mine. :)

Thanks Jordan for your posts. Once again I am surpassed by a former-YW-but-now-my-friend's blog and ideas.

I may have to steal your Monday Meet-n-Greet...I'll call it something different so as not to be guilty of complete plagerism

Oh Jordon...if only we lived by each other as tweens! Man the trouble we would've gotten into.

I remember a sleepover I had once when my friend asked me to add soap to the dishwasher and I used DiSH soap instead of dishwasher soap. Ummm...after cleaning up suds all over the kitchen and family room (and laughing our heads off for hours) I went home from one angry mom to another. Sigh...

Good times!

That's the way I grew up eating popcorn too. One time...I forgot to put the lid on the top and walked away. When I came back, it looked like it had snowed in the kitchen. I thought it was AWESOME, but my mom didn't so much.
