So a few months ago
Spencer's dear Grandmother
(Grandma Skelton)
passed away.

It was a sad month for us.
Especially for Spencer.
He has very fond memories of staying at her home when he was a kid.

She had the coolest office with the best supplies.
She was the Madison county clerk for years.
And always was stocked with "county clerk" stuff.
I'm sure you could imagine the hours of fun.
I have fond memories of staying at her home
while Spencer and I were dating and engaged . . .
(Her house played a very important part of our engagement by the way).

Needless to say.
She'll be missed.

After the funeral, Spencer's family began dividing up the stuff that was sentimental.
Spencer reeeeeally wanted an old porch swing that Grandma Skelton had in her backyard.
I thought it was a bit of an eye sore.
There it is. My "vain" side shining through.
Imagine my surprise when it showed up on our doorstep.
Not the type of surprised look found at birthday parties or engagements.
Mine was more a "are you kidding" look.

Where would we put it?

Well, Spencer found a place for it.
And I often see him outside with the kids.
Swinging.
Telling stories.
Laughing at Gavin.
However, I've never been quite convinced.
Until yesterday:

Okay, okay.
Now I'm convinced.

**Note**
Empty water barrels provide an afternoon of fun.
Good thing we never filled them.
Right?!?

One last thing:
This adorable picture just came from my mom.
Could there be a cuter man in uniform???
No, I don't think so.

My grandparents had one of those and I always loved it! Sure, it does look dated, but the ride is probably still good! I hope that your dad is doing well. How long will he be gone?

Awesome post! Your dad looks great. When is he, um, deploying? (I see the uniform and just can't think of another word. Sorry!) Seriously, I echo a previous comment. What a guy!

I would have to argue that my dad is cuter in uniform!! But otherwise your pics are awesome!! How crazy that he's going to Iraq. My dad is mucho jealous - he's been trying to get over there a couple years now. Anyway, super cute family as always :)
