This is our new car. Yes, I love it and I'm glad that we found it when we did. The tension in our family over the last three weeks or so was . . .well . . .maybe we should just leave it at that. I'm lucky that Spencer is so forgiving and he's lucky I'm so patient. We fit together nicely. Okay so since this is the seventh car in five and a half years, I'm pretty much a pro at the whole
emissions-and-registration thing. Gavin loves to call the
emissions place "That really loud place where the wheels on our car go really really fast". I've been there too many times to count and today I came to the realization that I'm utterly scared of it. I have this weird paranoid fear of things out of my control, and seeing the wheels of my car go so fast that it shakes back and forth . . .my mind races with worst case
scenarios. What if the plates fail and that car comes shooting at me? What if that kid that just ran across the front of it when it was going so fast got his foot stuck under the tire right in front of my kid? I'm a nervous wreck while Gavin has his face plastered on the window watching those not so clean guys get in and out of our new car. I actually think they were laughing at him wearing his Burger King crown that we got THREE DAYS AGO. Meanwhile, Reese (who is getting 6 teeth all at once right now) had the worst gas in the history of the world. And that ain't good in that tiny little booth. Needless to say, we couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Next stop. The
DMV. It was nearing nap time and after throwing out the bribe of getting to ride in a car cart at the grocery store, Gavin seemed calm. After cutting off my arm to pay for the taxes, I looked over to see my overly
OCD child lining up all the pens to face the same way. "Awe,
dats so coot" the lady over the counter said. I swore she had the appliance I had in my mouth when I was a teenager. I kept trying to see the light flash off of it, but no luck. I'm going with the appliance. That's my guess.
All of that, and we couldn't get the plates. The title hasn't been registered yet. Fabulous. I can't wait to do this again next week.

Gavin looks pretty happy with all that cash! Let me know if you don't want to take your kids with you next time!
Here's hoping you are done with the car hunt for a while.
Gavin is far too into that money for a not yet 4 year old. Do we have another Gage in the works?
