Yesterday we went to the Denver Aquarium. I was super excited. The Aquarium is downtown and I've heard great things about it. I hate to say that I was disappointed, but here's why we didn't have much fun.
First. It was $13.75 for just me. Luckily Gavin and Reese are still free. And $6 to park. Are you kidding me?
Second. We got there and entered the first room. The "otter" room. It was awesome. It's like they were performing for us. Flips into the water. Swimming like bullets. The boys were totally into it. Second room. A little darker, a little noisier. There was a huge skeleton of a fish that swam in the ocean during dinosaur times. Scared Gavin a little, but he was still having a fun time. Third room. This room simulated a flash flood. It was dark. The thunder was loud. The lightning was bright. And about 30 seconds into it a huge gush of water came shooting out of the wall and rushed under the bridge we were standing on. Gavin just about wet his pants he was so scared. And that was it. He was done. I can't even tell you what was in rooms four, five, six, seven and eight. And I'm sure Gavin couldn't either. His head was buried in my shoulder the whole time. So that, my friends, explains the lack of pictures.
Third. At the very end they have this place where you can pet sting rays. Gav perked up a little and touched a few. The smell made me want to vomit.
So there you have it. At least I'll save money on a season pass . . .
PS. In Gavin's prayers last night he said, "And please bless mommy to remember that we are never going to the Aquarium again". Poor kid is scarred for life.

Poor Gavin. He's a pretty tough little guy, but if he gets frightened, all bets are off.
I am sorry, but that comment in the prayer gave us a great laugh!
Too cute!
Haaaaaaaaaaa! I have to admit the first time we experienced the flash flood I was a little nervous as well! As for the sting rays...Rylee took one look at them and said, "isn't that what killed Steve Irwin"? And we left.
HA!!! I'm so sorry Gavin!
Oh my gosh mostly I just love that it made it into Gav's prayers! So funny! Good to know it was not the greatest though!
Haha I'm sorry because that sounds like it must have been frustrating, but it's so funny! hehe you're kids are too cute.
and $13+ is far too much!! Weren't they having trouble getting people to come? No wonder no one goes, that's outrageous!
