There ARE good people out there!!!

Last Friday we were headed to the store. I, for some strange reason, grabbed my wallet out of my purse. I never do that. I carried Reese out to the car and (stupidly) put my wallet on top of the car because I needed both hands. When driving home, I couldn't seem to find it. Guess where I left it. Yep, that's right. So . . .my sweet husband turned the car around and retraced out steps (all the way to the store). Nothing. The next morning Spencer woke up early and WALKED the highway looking for it. Nothing. I was totally devastated. That wallet has everything in it. Yikes. So I got home, and began calling my credit card companies and cancelling everything. Duh. So the weekend goes by and Monday night we're all sitting around when the phone rings. It's my bank telling me that someone called and said they found my wallet but since I don't have any current contact information (DUH again) they had no way of getting a hold of me. My DL still has my address from 5 years ago . . .The teller gave me the number of the person that found it and I called him. It was like a modern day miracle. I hadn't yet replaced the non-emergency things (DL, zoo pass, library card, and AE all access pass) so I was very happy to see it. It had been through a beating (I'm guessing run over a few times), and everything seemed to be there. Even the $5 I had. However, my new (with the bar code, not yet signed by the Stake Pres) and old (still current) temple recommends were missing. Let's hope those don't get in the wrong hands . . .

Jordon...your my twin! I totally did that but with my cell phone! Amazing how those things can get run over and still work, but you drop it once and poof nothing!!!!

I hope your "special cards" show up. That is the very purpose of the barcodes system eh? In case they get into the wrong hands?

OOOOOOH Snap!

Wow. I remember finding a wallet once and after having removed the cash, turned it in to the rightful owner--me. I still have the wallet, and still resent having no cash in it. Where that money went, is a mystery. I would like to get my hands on that guy and wring his neck for taking my money like that.

Signed,

Poor, happy and confused.

A box of chocolates and a thank you card. Should I have done more?

I found a wallet like that, but rather than turn it in right away, I decided to save it until my kids are old enough to learn a lesson about returning found wallets.

In another couple of years, I will pull it out for FHE and let Nathan have the experience of deciding whether we should keep the cash or return the wallet to its rightful owner.
