It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at our house . . .and we're loving it.
Gavin talks about "climbing" the Christmas tree to touch the star at the top. Yikes.
One small problem. Last year, we went to Home Depot and bought the tallest ladder they had to hang our lights on the second story of our house. Spencer was so excited, only to find out it wasn't quite tall enough to reach that second story window. And the roof is pretty steep so he really wasn't comfortable hoisting himself up there. Lucky for us, our good friends had some family visiting that loved to mountain climb. They came over and jumped right up there and hung the lights. It looked amazing. But no such luck this year. No ladder. No mountain climbing friends. No lights. We even looked into hiring someone to hang them for us. This is how the conversation went when the guy came over to give us a quote:
Spencer: "Wow, you're working late, it's almost 10:00 pm."
Hanging lights guy: "Yeah, I work as much as I can this time of year so that I don't have to work the rest of the year. It'll be $300 to hang your lights."
Spencer: "Uh, no thanks."
Now, anyone that knows how OCD I am knows that the "no-lights-on-the-top-of-the-house" thing bugs me. Take a deep breath. It'll be okay.
I really don't want to sound ungrateful or anything, so I really need to give a shout out to my dear, sweet husband who sacrificed his day off to put the lights up. They look marvelous, honey!

Looks like Spencer has a touch of the Kemsley OCD in him as well. Nice, straight light strands...Blaine would be proud! And I think 2nd story lights are over rated!
I just put up the Christmas lights at our house last night. We have foregone the second story every year for the five years we have been here. Of course, I have promised Robyn that once we move into our next house, I will do the complete job. Yours look great!
